Man Subdued After Threat on Troopers
A man entered the Statehouse on Friday and threatened to kill state troopers after they refused to let him see Gov. James J. Florio.
David Bernard Williams never got near Florio, said Jon Shure, the governor’s spokesman.
Shure said Williams first identified himself as the “son of a general” and later said he was a “corporate executive.” He shouted “I’ll kill you” at troopers and cocked his fingers like a pistol and yelled: “You’ll never take me alive.”
Troopers subdued and handcuffed Williams and he was taken to a crisis intervention center. He was charged with creating a disturbance and will also be charged with disorderly conduct, Shure said.
