IRVINE : Victim of Shooting Identified by Police
Police released the identity Tuesday of a man fatally shot and left along the San Diego Freeway near Jamboree Road earlier this week.
Marvin Jose Rizo, 22, who officials believe had been living in Santa Ana, was identified through fingerprint records, Irvine Police Sgt. Philip F. Povey said. Police said Rizo is believed to have relatives living in Nicaragua or Mexico.
Police said Rizo was shot once in the head. An autopsy report put the time of death between 10:30 p.m. Sunday and 2:30 a.m. Monday. A truck driver who had pulled over because of a mechanical problem discovered the body at 5 a.m. Monday, officials said.
Police said they know of no suspects or motive for the shooting.
Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed suspicious activity on the freeway between Jamboree and Harvard Avenue to call police at (714) 724-7166.
