Video Rentals : Big Guns Take Aim at ‘Cape Fear’

Share

This should be the last week on top of the Billboard magazine rental chart for “Cape Fear.” The heavy artillery has arrived, in the form of newcomers like “Grand Canyon” (No. 4), “Star Trek VI” (No. 7) and “Bugsy” (No. 8). But the strongest of the lot is “The Addams Family,” No. 2 after three weeks on the chart. “Shining Through,” a romantic World War II spy thriller with Michael Douglas and Melanie Griffith, premiered at No. 12.

* This thriller, about a psychotic nanny (Rebecca De Mornay) executing a clever scheme of vengeance, was the sleeper of the year, raking in more than $85 million in theaters. It premiered at No. 34 but should jump into the Top 10 next week.
