MISSION VIEJO : Bandits Bind Theater Workers, Steal Cash

Share

Two robbers wearing ski masks got away with an undisclosed amount of money from a movie theater box office early Wednesday after they bound the manager and an employee with duct tape, police said.

The incident occurred about 1:23 a.m. in the lobby of the Edwards theater complex on Crown Valley Parkway, when the manager, a 21-year-old Fullerton resident, and the employee, a 19-year-old Mission Viejo resident, were getting ready to leave the theater with the night’s receipts. They were confronted by the two robbers, one of whom was carrying a handgun, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Both employees were bound with duct tape and forced to lie on the floor before the robbers fled with the money. Neither was injured, authorities said.

Witnesses told deputies that the two robbers, both dressed in black, were last seen driving a black pickup truck, possibly a Toyota 4x4, with a lift kit and roll bar.
