PAST TENSE: Conservative George Will, in a column prepared for today, noted that Ross Perot would hurt George Bush, and cited Orange County as an example why. Will said Bush badly needed strong Orange County support in 1988 to carry California, but that “Orange County is Perot country today.” . . . However, Perot’s surprise announcement Thursday sent Will back to his word processor. He changed it to “Orange County was Perot country,” and now cites it as an example of why Bush is glad to see Perot gone.
