OXNARD : FBI, Police Arrest Bank Robbery Suspect
Oxnard police and FBI agents arrested a 45-year-old Santa Barbara man early Saturday on suspicion of robbing an Oxnard bank earlier this month.
Bernard Jerome Sumpter was taken into custody about 2:30 a.m. at the Sunshine Motel in the 700 block of W. Hueneme Road. Police also seized a loaded pistol and some rock cocaine.
Sumpter was arrested in connection with the July 13 robbery of the Bank of America at 2475 Saviers Road.
Sumpter was being held in Ventura County Jail on suspicion of robbery, carrying a loaded and concealed firearm and possession of cocaine.
