A magnitude 3.0 earthquake struck near Ontario on Saturday morning, but police said there were no reports of damage or injuries.

The earthquake originated seven miles southeast of Ontario, said Steven Bryant, a spokesman for Caltech in Pasadena. Bryant said the temblor was not an aftershock of either the Landers or Big Bear quakes that killed a child and caused serious damage three weeks ago.

Despite being the latest in a series of mild earthquakes that have rumbled throughout Southern California, it was not unusual, Bryant said. “This is an area that has seen many earthquakes before,” he said.
