A 33-year-old Las Vegas man says he is the anonymous source who provided photos of three former Nevada Las Vegas players socializing with convicted sports fixer Richard Perry to a Las Vegas newspaper last year.

Publication of the photos, which showed the players and Perry in a hot tub and playing basketball at Perry’s Las Vegas home, led to Jerry Tarkanian’s resignation as UNLV basketball coach.

Lamont Sudbury, an architectural designer, said he sold the photos to the newspaper but denied that the photos were released as part of a conspiracy to remove Tarkanian. Sudbury said he obtained the photos by accident from Perry’s wife after doing work at Perry’s home.

Tarkanian’s supporters accused UNLV President Robert Maxson of leaking the photos to the media in a move to discredit the coach.
