George Bush and Iraq

Share

I don’t understand the aims of the investigation going on regarding the U.S. government’s role in relation to Iraq before the Gulf War. I do not consider myself a student of history, but I do know that it was no secret that our government was supporting Iraq during its long struggle with Iran. If every policy-making decision made by any Administration is going to come under investigation because it was not considered politically correct in the eyes of certain journalists and politicians, then this country is in for deep troubles.

When we watched the hate on the faces of the Iranians every night during the holding of the hostages, does anyone really believe that our government was not trying any means at their disposal to bring this situation under control?

Is President Carter’s Administration going to come under this same scrutiny or is he exempt because his political persuasion is more in line with those doing the investigating?
