CAMARILLO : Grants Offered for Mobile Home Lots

Share

The city of Camarillo is offering $217,148 in grants to low-income residents of the Rancho Adolfo Mobile Home Park who want to buy their own lots.

City Council members voted unanimously this week to transfer money from the past five years of federal community development block grants to the new Mobilehome Park Ownership Assistance Program.

The funds are expected to provide assistance to about 25 low- and very-low income owners of mobile homes, city planners say.

“I think this is a fantastic resolution to come up with to help those folks out there,” Councilman Michael Morgan said.

More than 85% of the residents at Rancho Adolfo recently voted to support a conversion of the park from 380 rental units to sale lots.

Projected lot prices range from $51,095 to $68,645, which cover shared costs of the common recreational areas and street improvements, residents say.

Lot prices are being driven up by a $1-million flood control project in Calleguas Creek required by the Ventura County Flood Control District.
