Staff and Wire Reports

Defensive tackle Chester McGlockton, the Raiders’ No. 1 draft pick from Clemson, was surprised when his older brother, Leon, showed up at training camp in Oxnard.

A free agent safety from Fayetteville State, Leon asked the Raiders for a tryout and was invited to training camp.

“I didn’t know anything about it until he came to my room,” Chester said. “I said, ‘What the heck are you doing here?’ and he said he was trying out.

“I try to watch him when I can, but it’s kind of hard when I’m trying to learn my position. But I want him to make it.”

The McGlockton brothers don’t room together.

“We couldn’t stand to room together,” Chester said. “Not for a long amount of time.”

Although they’re both rookies, Leon, 23, is 11 months older than Chester, 22. It isn’t difficult to tell them apart since Chester is 6 feet 4 and weighs 325 pounds and Leon is 6-0, 210.

After taking Sunday off, the Raiders resume practice with two sessions today. They will practice in Oxnard until Wednesday, when they depart for three days of workouts against the Phoenix Cardinals at their Northern Arizona University training camp in Flagstaff.
