Kenny Bernstein won the top-fuel title in the 14th annual National Hot Rod Assn. Mopar Parts Mile High Nationals drag races at Bandimere Speedway near Denver. Joining Bernstein as professional winners were Chuck Etchells of Putnam, Conn., in funny car and Don Beverley of Chester, Va., in pro stock.
Bernstein, 47, of Dallas drove his dragster past top qualifier Ed McCulloch of Hemet in the final round with a quarter-mile time of 5.161 seconds at 268.57 m.p.h.
