Testimony Heard in Defense of Brazil Leader

BRASILIA, Brazil —
A former close aide to Brazilian President Fernando Collor de Mello jumped to the president’s defense Monday in testimony before Congress and denied that Collor had profited personally from a corruption scandal that threatens the future of his government.
