Steinberg Stands 3rd in Amateur Golf Event
Craig Steinberg of Van Nuys shot a one-under-par 70 to move into third place in the 26th Pacific Coast amateur golf championship Thursday at Kapalua, Hawaii.
Steinberg, who began the day tied for sixth, enters today’s final round with an even-par 213, nine strokes behind leader Todd Fischer of Pleasanton.
David McCleave of Ft. Collins, Colo., is in second, two shots ahead of Steinberg.
Mitch Voges of Simi Valley had a five-over 76, for a three-round total of 226, 13 strokes over par.
Tony Bordwell of Woodland Hills is at 14-over 227 after shooting a 79 and Michael Turner of Sherman Oaks is at 17-over 230 after a round of 81.
