Two young men were fatally shot early Saturday morning in separate incidents that also left one man wounded.

Terry Dewayne Ross, 20, died at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana shortly after being shot about 2 a.m. in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven store at 302 E. 17th St., said Police Lt. Earl Porter.

Police said Ross, a Santa Ana resident, was sitting inside a car with Stephen Eugene Strong, 22, when a group of men walked up to them.

Following an apparent argument between the two men in the car and the other males, one of the men pedestrians was reportedly seen firing several rounds of gunfire into the car, hitting Ross and Strong, Porter said.

Strong, a resident of Anaheim, was also taken to Western Medical Center for treatment. Police said he was not seriously wounded.

After the shooting, witnesses told police that the group of men scattered and ran away.

A short time later, a second man, whose identity was still unknown Saturday evening, was killed near Annie Tripp’s soup kitchen at the corner of Forest and 2nd streets.

Sgt. Brian Collins said the location is “historical for being a hangout for dope sellers and other people of that ilk.”

Details in the second shooting are “real sketchy at this point,” police said.

No arrests have been made in either attack, both of which are still under investigation.
