San Diego : Police Looking for Hit-and-Run Driver

Police are seeking information about a weekend hit-and-run accident in Encanto in which a Barrio Logan man was killed.
Jose Margarito Lopez, 51, of Barrio Logan was walking across Imperial Avenue east of 61st Street in Encanto when struck by a car at 2:15 a.m. Saturday, said Sgt. Alan Clark of the Police Department’s traffic investigations division.
Lopez was stepping off a raised center island when he was hit, Clark said, and died at the scene.
“There was no sign of the car braking, no skidding,” Clark said. Only one witness has come forward, offering only sketchy details, he said.
