Three incumbents and eight other candidates have entered the race for the three Laguna Niguel City Council seats up for election in November.

Mayor Thomas W. Wilson and councilmen Paul M. Christiansen and Larry A. Porter filed papers with the city clerk’s office by the Friday deadline.

Also entering the race are Eddie Rose, Ron Halpern, Mark Goodman, Michael R. Weinell, Janet Godfrey, Eric Paradise, Steele Morris and Louis A. Rondinelli.

Rose, a repeat City Council candidate, led an unsuccessful recall effort last year against four council members, including Porter and Wilson, after they rejected an initiative to preserve the city’s ridgelines. Rose has since proposed an ordinance to limit campaign contributions.

Goodman served previously on the city’s Traffic Commission, and Weinell is a teacher with the Capistrano Unified School District.
