The Games of the XXV Olympiad will end tonight with another on-field variety show, a parade of athletes, a fireworks spectacular and another turnout of camera-ready VIPs.

They will be headed again by King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain. Prince Felipe of Spain, who ignited the crowd at Olympic Stadium when he marched in bearing the Spanish flag at the opening ceremony, will sit with his parents this time. Other dignitaries expected to be present include the King of Sweden and Prime Minister John Major of Great Britain.

Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who used the visit to Barcelona to launch a new restaurant, will head a low-level U.S. delegation including Marvin Bush, the President’s son. The mayor of Washington, Sharon P. Kelly, is supposed to be on hand, as is Maynard Jackson of Atlanta. He will take the Olympic flag back home for safekeeping until the 1996 Summer Games.

Before leaving Barcelona, Jackson also will introduce the mascot for the Atlanta Olympics, which he promises will be a down-home blend of high tech and jes’ folks.
