Lindy Ruff, a 12-year NHL veteran, has agreed to terms to play for the Gulls this season, Don Waddell, the Gulls’ vice president/general manager, said Monday.

Ruff, 32, played nine seasons with the Buffalo Sabres and three with the New York Rangers, accumulating 105 goals and 195 assists in 691 games as a defenseman and left wing. He was also the Sabres’ captain for six seasons and skated alongside Gulls Coach Rick Dudley for two of those.

“Lindy was always the leader in Buffalo, both on the ice and in the dressing room,” Dudley said. “He loves to play and loves to win, and he has a marked effect on his teammates. He’s definitely a big addition to the Gulls’ hockey club.”
