Although ratings for Wednesday’s Disneyland Pigskin Classic trailed several game shows and situation comedy reruns, it did draw more viewers than the programming KTLA Channel 5 presented Tuesday.

According to figures released Thursday by the A.C. Nielsen Co., Texas A&M;’s 10-7 victory over Stanford drew a 4.6 rating. With each rating point being equivalent to 48,751 households, it means about 224,000 households were tuned it. The 4.6 matched the rating for December’s Freedom Bowl at Anaheim Stadium.

Shows broadcast opposite the Pigskin Classic and drawing higher ratings included “Jeopardy!” (9.4), “Wheel of Fortune” (8.0), “A Current Affair” (6.7), the 7:30 p.m. edition of “Love Connection” (6.0), “Hard Copy” (5.0) and reruns of “A Different World” (6.8), “Married . . . With Children (6.7), “The Cosby Show” (6.1), “The Golden Girls” (4.9) and “I Love Lucy” (4.9).

The night’s most-watched program was a 9 p.m. rerun of “Home Improvement” on KABC Channel 7, which had a 13.7 rating.

KTLA, which is expanding its sports coverage by adding tonight’s Kickoff Classic, Pacific-10 basketball and Dodger baseball to its association with the Angels and Kings, did witness a growth in viewership over Tuesday, when the Angels 9-1 loss to the Baltimore Orioles drew a 2.1 rating and “The Soldier,” a 1982 movie starring Ken Wahl, had a 3.5.
