California IN BRIEF : SAN FRANCISCO : Boy, 9, Kidnaped and Killed
A 9-year-old boy arriving home late at night with his mother was abducted by three gun-wielding men and later killed. The kidnaping and murder did not fit usual patterns of home invasion and street robberies, and the case is considered “very high-profile,” police homicide inspector Jim Bergstrom said. Michael Nguyen, 9, was taken from in front of his house in a quiet Sunset District neighborhood. His body was found by a woman walking her dog in Golden Gate Park, about a mile from the boy’s home. The body displayed “obvious signs of trauma. It’s horrible . . . it’s disgusting,” Bergstrom said. The boy’s parents are estranged. Police said they had no suspects.
