Two Tulare County sheriff’s deputies were shot and wounded and a deputy marshal was injured while serving a warrant Thursday, and the suspected gunman was shot and killed, authorities said.

The suspect, Ronald Marain, 54, died at the scene.

The two deputies and the Porterville Municipal Court marshal were fired upon at 5:30 p.m. as they tried to serve a warrant on Marain--for driving without a valid license--at a house in Strathmore, said Sheriff’s Lt. Ray Lovelady.

Two officers were taken to Sierra View Hospital in Porterville. Deputy Joe Teller was in stable condition with a stomach wound. Deputy Marshal Bryan Tenhet was treated for cuts from flying glass.
