NEW IMAGE? The abortion issue is one indication of trouble for President Bush with Orange County voters. A Los Angeles Times poll shows that 66% in Orange County--well above the national average--are pro-choice. . . . The poll also shows that 32% here say they are “less likely” to vote for Bush because of his anti-abortion stance; yet Bill Clinton’s pro-choice position hurts him with just 15% of the local vote.

County residents are more likely to favor a woman’s right to an abortion than the rest of the nation:
