Cerritos : Curbs on Leaf Blowers Take Effect This Month
A city ordinance curbing the use of noisy leaf blowers in residential areas takes effect Sept. 19.
The measure, approved by the City Council in response to citizen complaints, restricts the use of mechanical leaf blowers in residential areas to 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays and legal holidays. Restrictions also apply to commercial areas within 400 feet of residential properties, but industrial areas of the city are exempt.
Violation of the ordinance is punishable by a fine of up to $250.
