Share

Friends of Michael Novarese are staging a love-in for the recently retired designer Sept. 26 at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising.

A circle of Novarese devotees--Maggie Murray, Wanda Henderson, Treva Abrams, Patty Burschinger, Joan Caillouette, Georgie Erskine, Tonian Hohberg and Elise Pasetta--have spliced old and current photos of Michael on the invitation cover.

They’ll celebrate and preview “The Special Gallery of His Designs” and stage a seated dinner.

The colors on the invitation mix with the hot pinks, limes and oranges and the South American floral centerpieces benefit chair Patricia Glazier envisions for the party.

On the committee: Jennith Knox, Janet Tranquada, Andrea Walker, Robin Banks, Carole Bourdillon, Joan Caillouette, Barbara Johnson, Dorothy Gantvoort, Paulette Geragos, Kathy Gillespie, Mary Kay Driscoll, Rhonda Davis, Karen Crockett and lots more.

This year’s event celebrates Pasadena’s Golden Age in the 1920s--all that jazz. Expect lots of shimmying to a 17-piece dance band, bangles and beads, and lips reddened like Clara Bow’s. Classic cars will be in abundance.
