Santa Monica Mountains : Rescuing the Ranger Patrol

Share

A park ranger patrol of scenic overlook areas on Mulholland Drive would be spared from possible cutbacks under a plan endorsed by a Los Angeles City Council panel on Tuesday.

The plan includes a pledge by the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy that its rangers will write more parking tickets to compensate the city for its financial help, according to city records.

On a 3-0 vote, the council’s Budget and Finance Committee quickly and quietly recommended spending $36,000 of city funds to underwrite the cost of keeping two conservancy rangers on the patrol. The full council still must approve the matter.
