Free Tests, Shots Offered at Clinics

Two local medical facilities are offering free services this month, officials announced.

Children’s Hospital will hold an immunization clinic for children of all ages from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday at 3030 Children’s Way. It is part of the county’s effort to increase the number of children under age 2 who are immunized. Parents should bring child’s immunization card to be updated. The free clinics will be held every other month.

The immunizations will include a shot for pertussis, or whooping cough. So far this year, 75 cases of whooping cough have been reported in the county. Last year, there were only 18 cases.

At Scripps Clinic, 10666 North Torrey Pines Road in La Jolla, a free screening for Hepatitis B and C will be held from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. the next three Tuesdays (Sept. 15, 22, 29).
