Timberwolves Trade Campbell to Knicks

From Staff and Wire Reports

The Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday traded Tony Campbell, their leading scorer each of the last three seasons, to the New York Knicks for a second-round draft choice in either 1994, 1995 or 1996.

The Timberwolves will receive New York’s second-round pick in 1994 unless the Knicks trade it. If the Knicks don’t have a 1994 second-rounder, Minnesota would get their 1995 second-rounder. If that is also gone, the Timberwolves would get New York’s 1996 second-rounder.

Campbell will become the Knicks’ starting small forward. But they are still hoping to make more front-court additions, including the Clippers’ Charles Smith. The Knicks also will work out several free agents this week: Buck Johnson, Rod Higgins, Herb Williams, Brad Lohaus and Eric Leckner.
