Temple City : Funding for Park Rejected

Share

Concerned about state funding cuts, the City Council unanimously decided against buying a lot for the expansion of Live Oak Park.

The council had delayed a decision on the proposed $250,000 purchase on Sept. 1, when Councilwomen Mary L. Manning and Cathe Wilson supported the acquisition. Tuesday, after a report on how the new state budget will trim Temple City’s revenues from property tax allocations by 9% (or about $32,000) for fiscal year 1991-92, Manning and Wilson said they had changed their positions.

“I believe I was leading with my heart, instead of what we should do,” Wilson said.
