A CALL FOR HELP: Both presidential candidates have raised the child abuse issue, and in Orange County, the problem continues. The county’s Child Abuse Registry received calls involving almost 24,000 children through August this year. . . . The single biggest source of calls is neighbors and relatives. “We need to hear from them,” says registry social worker Ron Williams. “If you have a reasonable suspicion a child is being abused, call us. We will investigate.”
