My Word: Ken Kesey, counterculture icon of the ‘60s and author of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” will read from his children’s books “The Sea Lion” and “Little Tricker the Squirrel” Oct. 3 at 2 p.m. at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre. Kesey will be introduced by Dennis Hopper at the event, hosted by Book Soup. . . . And actor-playwright Sam Shepard will join Lee deBroux, Martin Kove, Lee Purcell, Tim Scott and Buck Taylor in reading “Contemporary Cowboy Poetry” at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Met Theatre in Hollywood as part of its ongoing Great Writers Series.
