Underground Blast Kills Seven Miners in Canada

YELLOWKNIFE, Canada —
An underground explosion rattled a strike-bound gold mine in the remote Northwest Territories on Friday, killing seven miners, police said.
The explosion at the Royal Oak Mines Giant Mine, which has been the subject of a bitter labor dispute since workers struck in May, took place in a non-working area of the mine normally used as a corridor.
