Notre Dame Has Trouble of Its Own

Share

First, tell me of a former Notre Dame football player’s disclosure of steroid use at ND and then tell me it’s just sour grapes and that there have been only three positive steroid tests that resulted in no player suspensions.

Then tell me about a Seattle Notre Dame alumni association president who gives a loan to a highly recruited high school All-American and then tell me that the loan had nothing to do with attempting to recruit that player for Notre Dame (I am curious how many non-football players were given loans by the subject Seattle couple.).

Then tell me about an unemployed All-American linebacker who receives a $25,000 one-year car loan guaranteed by a disability insurance policy and then tell me his athletic ability and professional potential had nothing to do with his receiving the loan.

Then tell me about running the ball on consecutive downs with a minute to go in a tie game and then tell me you weren’t going for a tie but merely trying to figure out what defense the opposition was using.

It seems to me that Notre Dame would do more for its self-proclaimed high level of integrity by admitting that it is no less a football factory attempting to keep one step ahead of NCAA investigators than was SMU or Oklahoma. We used to have an easier time getting a straight story out of Moscow.
