Firing of Broadcasters a Typical Move for Angels

Share

Regarding the recent termination of Angel broadcasters Al Conin and Bob Jamison, this is just another in the long line of Angel front office miscues.

As woeful as recent teams have been, there are still a few “die hard” fans who listen to the games when they can’t make it to the ballpark or the team is out of town. Al Conin has been excellent in his game descriptions and insightful commentary, and I’ve also enjoyed Bob Jamison’s work the past two years as well.

My father taught me a long time ago that if something isn’t broken, don’t fix it. Perhaps this is something the Angel front office as well as the Autrys never learned--Wally Joyner, Dave Winfield, Nolan Ryan, Brian Downing, Carney Lansford, Frank Tanana, Mickey Rivers, et al. If recent tradition holds true, we’ll all be hearing Al and Bob on the CBS radio baseball Game of the Week, or better yet, they’ll be doing major network television coverage. It’s getting harder and increasingly harder to support the home team.
