The body of a 24-year-old North Hollywood man was found Monday by Los Angeles County Lifeguard divers about 100 yards from where he fell into Castaic Lake the day before, sheriff’s deputies said.

The man, Angel Carnita, was found in about 50 feet of water about 11 a.m., deputies said.

Carnita was in a 13-foot rowboat Sunday afternoon with five other men when he tried to stand up and fell into the lake.

One of his companions leaped into the water in an unsuccessful attempt to save him.

County lifeguard divers joined the search, but could not find the body and suspended the search at sundown.
