PRO FOOTBALL : DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Injury Will Probably Sideline Lyght

Although results of a magnetic resonance imaging test were not available Monday night, cornerback Todd Lyght said that his injured right shoulder probably will force him to sit out two games.

Lyght, who sustained the injury Sunday against the Dolphins, said he could not lift his right arm above his shoulder. Coach Chuck Knox suggested that Robert Bailey would start in Lyght’s place at left cornerback and that Steve Israel would see increased time because of the injury. Knox also said the Rams might pick up another cornerback.

Although Cleveland Gary had 17 carries Sunday and Robert Delpino had none, Knox said that did not mean Gary has become the team’s featured back and Delpino simply a supporting player.

Gary, who gained 76 yards, including a 40-yarder at the end of the first quarter, will continue to share the one-back job with Delpino. “If you’re going to run the one-back offense a lot, you’re going to need two backs who can both share the load,” Knox said.

It was delayed, but the Rams officially signed former Seattle Seahawk defensive tackle Eric Hayes and put backup defensive tackle David Rocker on injured reserve because of a bruised knee. Originally, Hayes was scheduled to be available for Sunday’s game, but the move was apparently stalled by paperwork. . . . The Rams gave a quick workout to former Cincinnati linebacker Leon White.
