Glendora : Notification Rule Modified

A resolution approved in April concerning the process for notifying residents of public meetings on proposed changes in the city’s General Plan has been amended, eliminating a requirement and thus saving as much as $2,000 a year.

The City Council agreed Tuesday to change the section requiring notification of all owners of real property within 2,000 feet of an affected property to those landowners within 300 feet. The reduction in city staff time and mailing expenses will bring such costs to about $1,000, instead of the estimated $2,500 to $3,000 under the original section, city planner Michael Yankovich said.

The council also added a requirement that property owner-initiated plan changes be advertised on their lots with a 4-by-8-foot sign. City-initiated changes would require three 1 1/2-by-2-foot notices on the property.
