Russell D. Niles; Ex-Chancellor of New York University

Russell D. Niles, 90, former chancellor of New York University, retired dean of its law school and most recently an emeritus law professor at the University of California’s Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco. Niles was considered one of the country’s leading authorities on trust law. He was a professor of law at the NYU School of Law for 43 years, serving 16 of those as dean. He also served three years as chancellor of the university. For the last 11 years of his career he was a member of the internationally known Sixty-Five Club faculty, a unique program in which Hastings invites eminent legal scholars to teach after their normal retirement. On Sept. 15 in San Francisco.
