A Shopper’s Update : A review shows that several stores have made changes ranging from increased inventories to new ownership.

In looking over columns that have appeared here in the last couple of years, I find that an update is in order. Some changes that shoppers should know about have been made at several of my favorite bargain sources.

* The Great Changes Annex, outlet for the Great Changes shop for larger women, has changed hands and now is simply called Fawn. Fawn, the dynamic manager of the outlet store, is now the owner. Drastically reduced merchandise from Great Changes will continue to appear on the racks, but Fawn is also introducing other lines. Prices remain well under retail and the store is still at 4383-G Tujunga Ave. in Studio City. (818) 769-1787.

* All $5 Clothing Stores have expanded their inventory to include dresses, sweaters, denim separates and dress slacks, all tagged at $12, their highest price. Shoppers can call (800) 766-5555 for store locations.

* Roseman & Associates, an excellent source for quality men’s apparel, has added a shoe department. Bruno Magli loafers that retail for $155 were $94.88. Handsome Gianelli loafers were discounted from $245 to $119.91. The store is at 2211 E. Olympic Blvd. in Los Angeles. (213) 622-6266.

* While you’re in the neighborhood, check out Mike’s Tailor Shop next door if you need expert and inexpensive alterations for men’s or women’s clothing. 2215 E. Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles. (213) 489-2486.

* Dressed Up, the newest addition to Alley in the Valley, has been open only a little more than a year but already has expanded, adding another store to this little cluster of shops selling high-end merchandise at garment-district prices. The original Dressed Up focuses on women’s special-occasion apparel. The new store is A Little Dressed Up, featuring what in the industry is called “bridge” sportswear--meaning good suits. To give you an idea of prices, a pantsuit priced at $450 in a major boutique sells for $270 at A Little Dressed Up. Sizes range from 2 to 18. The shop is in the alley behind 6000 Reseda Blvd., Tarzana. (818) 708-7238.

* Princess Fabrics has stores in Granada Hills, Van Nuys, Simi Valley and Palmdale where the products of the best-known fabrics manufacturers are always discounted. Now they have opened Home Beautiful, where coordinated displays of a living room, dining room, den, master bedroom, teen-ager’s bedroom and a nursery emphasize the magic that fabrics can work in decorating. 19325 Londelius St. (next to Jolly Roger), Northridge. (818) 727-7038.

* A store I wrote about last year, The Clothing Factory, is the outlet for a local manufacturer of women’s and girls’ coordinated separates that usually retail in the $20 to $60 range. Today, through Sunday, everything in the store will be $5. 6831 Tampa Ave., Reseda. (818) 609-7219.
