Fullerton Faces Sacramento Tonight

Share

Cal State Fullerton, a struggling Division I-A team, will take on one of the nation’s stronger Division II teams tonight when the Titans play host to Cal State Sacramento at 6.

The 12th-ranked Hornets (2-0) scored 50 second-half points last week in a 57-9 victory over Abilene Christian. They rank first in the nation among Division II teams in total defense at 87 yards per game, and in rushing defense at minus-seven yards per game, and are third in scoring defense at eight points per game.

Sacramento is led by quarterback Bobby Fresques, a transfer from Wyoming who passed for 214 yards and three touchdowns in the second half last week, tailback Pedro Lewis, who has 225 yards rushing in two games, and defensive tackle Jon Kirksey, a 6-foot-5, 330-pound senior who is a strong NFL prospect.

The Titans (1-2) are looking to rebound from last week’s 56-0 loss to Georgia, in which they fumbled 13 times.
