Docents Needed--The Environmental Nature Center in Newport Beach is seeking volunteers to become docents. The volunteers will be asked to spend one morning a week teaching children about their environment at the center’s 2 1/2-acre site.

Docent training classes will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays beginning this Tuesday and continuing through Nov. 17.

Wetlands Tours--Guided public tours of the Bolsa Chica wetlands will be held Saturday morning. The tours, sponsored by Amigos de Bolsa Chica, will leave from the wetlands’ ecological reserve every 20 minutes beginning at 9 a.m. The last tour will depart at 10:30 a.m.

Those who would like to take the tour are asked to meet at the ecological reserve on Pacific Coast Highway about half a mile south of Warner Avenue, across from Bolsa Chica State Beach.

More on Tours--The California Department of Fish and Game is sponsoring guided tours of the Upper Newport Bay Ecological Reserve every Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.

The tours are free. Those who would like to go on a tour are asked to meet at Shellmaker Island off Backbay Drive in Newport Beach.

Central Park Field Trip--South Coast Audubon will sponsor a field trip to Huntington Central Park Saturday.

The park is known as one of the best spots for bird-watching in the county. The trip will begin at 8 a.m. and continue into the afternoon.
