Nation IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : Hurricane Benefit Raises $1 Million

A star-studded benefit concert for hurricane victims in south Florida, Louisiana and Hawaii drew a crowd of about 50,000 to Miami’s Joe Robbie Stadium and raised more than $1 million in ticket sales, organizers reported. Among the stars organized by pop singer Gloria Estefan were Spanish crooner Julio Iglesias, salsa star Celia Cruz, Cuban-born actor Andy Garcia, reggae’s Rita Marley, singer Paul Simon, the British rock band Asia, Crosby, Stills and Nash and comedian Whoopi Goldberg.
