A man who allegedly fired a pistol in his Encino home during a domestic dispute was arrested Monday morning after a nightlong manhunt in the Encino hills, police said.

Claus Meyer, 50, was arrested on suspicion of “negligent discharge of a firearm,” said Los Angeles Police Detective Joel Price.

Police were called to the 1800 block of Karen Drive in Encino at about 9 p.m. Sunday in response to reports of shots being fired during a domestic dispute, Price said. When police arrived they saw Meyer aiming a pistol and took cover, Price said. Police heard a gunshot but did not know whether it was aimed at them, he said.

Police did not return fire, Price said.

Meyer then fled and police, aided by helicopters and police dogs, gave chase.

Price said Meyer was captured in the Encino hills at about 6 a.m. hiding in brush. He was taken to Humana Hospital in West Hills for treatment of a bite from a police dog.

Investigators found several antique German guns in Meyer’s house, Price said.
