NORTHRIDGE : 400 Households Lose Power for 2 Hours

Share

About 400 households in Northridge were left without power for about two hours Monday night, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power said.

The power failure began about 7:45 p.m. when an underground cable malfunctioned, said department spokeswoman Lucia Avelais. The affected area was roughly bounded by Chatsworth Street on the north, Devonshire Street on the south, Topeka Drive on the east and Melvin Avenue on the west.

Power had not been restored to 112 households in the area as of 9:30 p.m., she said.

“We still have about 14 transformers that are out,” Avelais said. “We’re not quite certain what caused it.”
