PEN Pals: Autographed scripts of the “Murphy Brown” episodes where Brown gives birth and later responds to Vice President Dan Quayle are among the 100 items that will go on the block at PEN West’s third annual Literary Festival and Auction Sunday at the Santa Monica Museum of Flying. The centerpiece of the evening will be the presentation of PEN West’s Freedom to Write Awards. The honorees are radio playwright Norman Corwin; “Murphy Brown” creator Diane English; Alfred and Bernice Ligon, the owner-operators of a longtime African-American bookstore that was recently destroyed; authors Paul Monette and Wallace Stegner; and writer-director-producer Oliver Stone, plus a posthumous award to Guatemalan journalist-anthropolgist Myrna Mack. Casey Kasem will emcee the 5-9 p.m. event. PEN, a nonprofit organization, works for freedom of expression.
