Television actor Jameson Parker, co-star of “Simon and Simon,” was shot Thursday night near his condominium in Studio City, following a dispute with a neighbor over dog waste, authorities said.

Parker, 44, who played A. J. Simon in the CBS series, was listed in good condition at the Medical Center of North Hollywood, a nursing supervisor said.

The shooting appeared to be the result of a dispute among neighbors, said Los Angeles Police Officer Douglas Hamilton.

“One neighbor had a dog who was doing his business on the other neighbor’s lawn,” Hamilton said. “One of the neighbors got a gun and the other neighbor ended up with two nonfatal gunshot wounds.”

The shooting near Parker’s four-unit condominium building in the 12000 block of Moorpark Street was reported at 7:49 p.m., he said.

The victim was taken to the Medical Center of North Hollywood, where nursing supervisor Elsa Mariano identified him as Parker. “He’s awake and he’s alert and his vital signs are very stable,” Mariano said.

Parker played the conservative character A.J. Simon opposite Gerald McRaney’s laid-back and grubby Rick in the series that ran on CBS from 1981 to 1988. The two brothers were partners in a small, struggling detective agency. A man was arrested in connection with the shooting, police said. The suspect was not identified.
