Southwest Falls to Moorpark; Harbor Defeats West Los Angeles

The Southwest College football team drove 74 yards in the closing minutes but could not score a potential game-winning touchdown in a 24-20 loss to Moorpark on Saturday.

Starting at its own 20 with six minutes to play, Southwest (0-2-1) reached the Moorpark 12-yard line with 1 minute 31 seconds remaining. A six-yard run by Katia Ransom moved the ball to the six, but three consecutive passes by Cougar quarterback Bobby Savannah fell incomplete. The Raiders (3-0) took over on downs and ran out the clock.

“We went into the game feeling that if everyone did what they were supposed to do, we could play with them,” Southwest Coach Henry Washington said. “We had everything going the way we wanted.”
