LOS ANGELES COUNTY : Athletic Foundation Announces New Grants
The Los Angeles Amateur Athletic Foundation, the group charged with disbursing surplus funds from the 1984 Olympics to California youth sports, has announced $146,572 in new grants.
The foundation also said Thursday that it has now distributed $150,029 of the $1 million it promised in aid for youngsters affected by the spring riots.
The latest grants included $39,040 for the Boys and Girls Club of Moorpark, $33,296 for the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley, $31,827 for the Phoenix Houses of California and $18,409 for the Burbank Family YMCA.
The riot relief aid has gone to eight youth sports organizations in the central city.
