NATIONAL CITY : Exploding Tire Kills Repairman

A 55-year-old man was killed Thursday when the truck tire he was inflating exploded and he was struck in the forehead by the wheel, authorities reported.
Octavio Q. Arvizu of Mexicali, Mexico, the owner of a tire-repair service, was in the back yard of a house in the 1000 block of Division Street about 11 a.m. when the accident occurred, the coroner’s office said. Arvizu was killed instantly.
The force of the explosion was such that after striking Arvizu the wheel was propelled over a two-story apartment building and landed 200 feet away.
