World Series : Toronto Blue Jays vs. Atlanta Braves : NOTEBOOK
During informal team meetings throughout the playoffs, the Blue Jays talked about wanting to win because it could be the last time they are together.
“This is the first World Series for a lot of guys and could be the last World Series for us as a team, that’s why a lot of guys want to win,” Alfredo Griffin said. “We don’t know if we’ll get another chance.”
Cone said he could sense that feeling when he joined the team from the New York Mets on Aug. 27.
“There is a real live-for-now attitude around here,” Cone said. “I think we all know that we are only together for a short time longer, and so we want to get it done.”
Nobody in the Braves’ starting lineup in Game 1 is eligible for free agency.
